J.
J is the main protagonist of the novel. The novel is written from his point of view. It is unknown what his full name is, however I assume that he is most likely to be the author himself- Jerome K. Jerome. J is a very lazy man. He has no specified job in the novel. According to him, J has all 107 maladies that had written accounts in the pharmacology, except housemaid's knee. J's hair colour is sort of golden brown.
William- Samuel Harris
William- Samuel Harris, better known as Harris is one of J's best friends. Harris is a heavy eater and loves to take responsibilities of tasks, like planning a boat trip. His liver is out of order. Harris has a rather dark complexion. J is not that fond of Harris in the novel and describes him as vulgar.
George
George is another best friend of J. He is very practical and also a heavy sleeper. He is the only one of the three who actually works. George has a job in the bank. Also, his liver is out of order.
Montmorency
Montmorency is J's dog. He goes on the boat trip with the three men. He always messes up things and is a very playful dog. J describes Montmorency as "an angel sent upon the earth, for some reason withheld from mankind". "There is a sort of Oh-what-a-wicked-world-this-is-and-how-I-wish-I-could-do-something-to-make-it-better-and-nobler expression about Montmorency". (pg. 14)
Costumes for special occasions

Costumes for special occasions
The daily clothing of the three men is mostly the fashion of the Victorian era with a hint of their own taste-
- J always likes a little red in his clothes. For the Special Sunday occasion near the lock, J would wear a dark red vest, a black coat and a light- blue neck tie with it. He would also wear a pair of Russian- leather shoes and a handkerchief around the waist. Also, a hat is a must.
- Harris would wear clothes of a shade of yellow or orange and a hat.
- For George, he brought a "loud" blazer for the trip and he is most likely to wear that for this occasion.
